About Bengal Amateur Swimming Association

The Bengal Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) is the apex governing body for aquatic sports in West Bengal, responsible for the promotion, development, and regulation of swimming and allied aquatic disciplines across the state. BASA is the affiliated unit of the Bengal Olympic Association (BOA) and the Swimming Federation of India (SFI), ensuring that all its activities and standards remain aligned with national and state-level sports governance.

What We Do

1. Promotion of Aquatic Sports
BASA oversees and supports the development of multiple aquatic disciplines, including:

  •  Water Polo
  •  Diving
  •  Artistic Swimming

2. Training & Coaching Development
The Association conducts certified coaching programs, technical clinics, and training camps for swimmers, coaches, and officials to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to national and international standards.

BASA organizes district, state, and inter-district aquatic championships and coordinates with the Swimming Federation of India for national-level participation. The Association ensures fair selection processes, proper event management, and adherence to regulatory norms.

With a network of affiliated district associations across West Bengal, BASA ensures that swimming reaches the grassroots level. This decentralized structure allows young talent from all regions to receive equal opportunities and exposure.
